Bus Stop History

Kate Rice opened Bus Stop Pre–School in the early 1990’s at Bookham Youth Centre along the Lower Road in Bookham. In 2000 Kate and her team received an ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted. Kate closed the pre–school to move on to new challenges and to support her two daughters Hayley and Kelly who were completing courses in childcare.

In 2006 Kate, Kelly and Hayley re-opened Bus Stop Pre–School at Keystone House, Dorking Road, Bookham, we were there for seven years before moving premises in 2012.

In September 2012 BusStop moved to the Polesdon Lacey Estate near Bookham and has its own dedicated building. In 2014 the wall adjoining with the next door bungalow was knocked down and the play space doubled.

The Surrey Early Years team regularly encourages practitioners from other early year’s settings to come and view the Bus Stop teams practice and learning environment, where we offer support and ideas to enhance others settings.
